Best birthday wishes from Finn and Fam.
On Monday we gathered in New Hampshire to remember Finn Bob’s great-grandfather. The day was damp but warm, the mist gathering on the hill above the house where my Grandma and Grandpa lived for so many years. The maple leaves shone red and gold down through the drizzle and up from the sidewalks. It was a sad but sweet thing to see family and hear so many kind words, about the father, teacher, weightlifter and all-around strong man, traveler, laugher, healer, hugger (he was a champion at it) and husband that we love so. He also looked fabulous in a bow tie. Maybe Finn can be the second-best looking man in one.

We were able to spend a few lovely days in Maine with Uncles Ben and Tom and their black lab Beau last weekend. There was apple picking, of course, with fabulous Cortlands, ripe gorgeous raspberries, a hay maze, a pumpkin patch and pumpkin whoopie pies under an unseasonably warm October sky. We got to take a couple of walks in the woods and up a small mountain where we could see the maples turn around Sebago Lake. We had many tasty things cooked by Ben (Uncle Pudding) and many licks from Beau.
The reason for the visit was bittersweet; Monday was a memorial for Great-Grandpa Bob (more on that later). But it was a grand thing to see family and show Finn some of the riches of a New England October.
